Composing E-mail in Outlook Express:
Now, that you have received e-mail, you probably want to write an e-mail to someone. To do this, you can use one of the following methods:

1.) Click on the Create Mail Button on the toolbar, or
2.) Click on the File Menu, Select New, and then click on Mail Message.

After using one of the above methods, you will see a blank e-mail on your screen. The basic elements of the e-mail you're composing are: To, which is the field for the person(s) you are sending the e-mail to, Cc, which is the field for the person(s) you are sending a copy of the e-mail to, Subject, which for the title or subject of the e-mail you're sending, and finally, the body, which will contain the message.

You may also want to use BCC (Blind Carbon Copy), which sends a copy of your e-mail to all addresses you place in this field without the other recipients being able to see who else is getting the e-mail. To add the BCC field click View >> All Headers in the message window.

Along the top of the e-mail you're composing will be a toolbar that consists of the following buttons: Send, Cut, Copy, Paste, Undo, Check and Spelling. These are basic tasks that you will perform during the creation of your e-mail. Above the toolbar, you will see the menu bar with the usual File, Edit, View, Tools, Message, and Help.

If you have set up Outlook Express to be in Rich Text Format, beneath the To, Cc, and Subject fields and above the message or body portion of your e-mail, there are formatting tools such as Bold, Italics, and Alignment that will help you format your e-mail much like you would format a document in Microsoft Word. Finally, enter the message you want to send in your e-mail. You will notice that this too is similar to typing in a Microsoft Word Document.

Microsoft Outlook Express has a look and feel that is much similar to other Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. That is because all Microsoft Office applications are WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get).

Sending E-mail in Outlook Express:
Once you have finished composing your e-mail message in Outlook Express, you are ready to send it to the individual(s) that you want to send it to. To do this, you can either:

1.) Click the Send Button on the toolbar in your composed message, or
2.) In the File Menu on the menu bar, click Send Message.

There is also an option in Outlook Express that you can use if you do not want to send your message out right away. In the File Menu, click Send Later, and your e-mail will be placed in the Outbox to be sent at a later time.

Sending Out E-mail From The Outbox in Outlook Express:
If you have put away e-mail to your Outbox, you can send the e-mail out when you decide to send your e-mail, by doing one of the following:

1.) Click on the Send and Receive All Button on the toolbar, or
2.) Click on the Tools Menu on the menu bar, Select Send and Receive, and Select Send and Receive All.

At this point, there will be a pop-up window with an e-mail going back and forth. Once the window disappears, your sent e-mail will disappear from your Outbox.
